Keratin Bond Hair Extensions
Here at Ergun Tercan European Salon, our hair extension specialists only use 100% human, Remy hair. Our application techniques are with keratin bonds and use only hot or cold fusion. All of our stylists have gone through the required training to earn their certification as skilled hair extension specialists. This is a class we also educate other stylists in, as a single education class, or taken as part of our Advanced Hair Academy Rituals; certifying other lisenced cosmetologists from all around. We also hold continuing education classes for our salon team on advanced hair extension techniques, constantly growing our knowledge and skill in this area of expertise. So let’s get into answering the most common questions in regards to keratin bond extensions applied by either hot fusion or cold fusion application.
What is a keratin bond?
Keratin is the same protein our skin, hair, and nails are naturally made of. Each piece or bond of hair extension is put together with a piece of keratin at the end of it. This is the safest adhesive for your hair, as it’s made of the same protein your natural hair is made of. It’s keratin on keratin.
What is a hot fusion application?
[gallery link="none" ids="2344,2346"]There is a hot tool used to pinch both sides of the keratin bond once placed over the natural hair to fuse the keratin hair extension bond to the natural hair. The bond is then flattened out to lay flush to the scalp without protrusion. These keratin bonds can also be customized to fit any size, texture, and most lengths of hair.
What is a cold fusion application?
Cold fusion application is one of the newest technologies in hair extensions. This machine uses the same type of hair as our hot fusion applications; however the technology uses an ultra-sonic wave of pressure to seal the bond to the natural hair instead of heat. This type of application can only be used on regular to thicker hair types.
How are these extensions removed?
There is a dissolving solution placed at the bond to break up the keratin; along with a tool that can help break up and dissolve the bond. Once the bond is dissolved and broken up from the natural hair, the hair extension slides right off the natural hair, leaving it intact.
How long do these type of extensions last?
Depending on how you care for your hair, really depends on how long they will last. We use the highest quality of hair extensions on the market, which provide the longest life span in regards to the extension hair itself. It is 100% human Remy hair. Ideally, if you follow the hair extension maintenance guide we provide you, as well as use the right products we recommend, your extensions should last you up to six months. We do suggest starting maintenance on your extensions at three months or so; that way you only need to care for a few at a time and not have to do a full removal and re-apply a full head at a time. This is a way to be more cost efficient with your upkeep and maintenance. However, we do have many clients who prefer to wear them for the entire six months or so, and do a full removal and replacement at that time. Either option is acceptable and comes down to your preference. Once a cold or hot fusion keratin bond is removed new extensions are required to replace where the former bond was. However, for any type of hair extension, we do not advise to reuse the same extensions again, even if possible due to the condition and wear and tear those extensions have already been put through.
Are there any warnings about this type of hair extension I should be aware of?
When the application is done through a licensed professional, certified as a hair extension specialist there is no damage to the hair. Along with proper care, maintenance, and use of recommended products by the client the integrity of the hair will remain as cared for. Due to the high quality of our hair, the hair feels just the same as your natural hair to the touch. At the scalp the bonds lay flat and flush to the scalp, making it very hard to detect the bonds that have been placed even when touching the applied areas.Check out this video on our hot fusion keratin bond extensions:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mbtUZ6gR-20Hopefully, we’ve given you more education on what type of extension services we provide.
